South-West Wall - Gold Coast Seaway

A
great starting point for the timid diver, a sandy beach entry with a gradual
decline to 5 metres.
At
this location the incoming current has lost most of it’s strength and on the
days when rough seas with SE winds have stirred up sediment and reduced the
visibility in the South Wall area, by the time it gets to the South West
Wall most of the sediment has dropped out and visibility will improve.
This
is a shallow area and the maximum depth encountered is 8 metres. It is rare
to see the big fish here but this is the nursery area for a lot of fish and
is a great “muck diving” area.
It is
quite silty and finning near the bottom will reduce the visibility for other
divers down current.
This
is the area where it is possible to find the Ornate Ghostpipefish, Robust
Ghostpipefish and Sea Horses.
