ex-HMAS Brisbane
The ex-HMAS Brisbane is a former warship
that has been sunk off the coast of Mooloolaba in South East Queensland. Mooloolaba
is located about 1.5 hour drive north of Brisbane, or approximately 2 hours
from the Gold Coast. The wreck is then a further 10km by boat from the mouth of the Mooloolah River.
To dive the ex-HMAS Brisbane
you must book a dive tour with a licensed operator, or obtain a permit through
the local
Maroochy Tourism.
You obviously must be a certified diver. Fees are $20.00 per person per
two-hour timeslot.
Access

An
off shore boat with a licensed operator is required as the site is in
open water and is protected by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife
Authority.

The
diving is great throughout all seasons of the year.
Water Temperature
Water
temperature varies between a maximum of 27°C in summer months and a minimum
of 19°C in Winter. This a very comfortable range for diving.
Visibility
Visibility ranges from 10
to 25 meters, and is typically higher in winter and lower in summer.
Level of Difficulty
A range of dives is available for all skills
levels,
from open water level to advanced wreck
divers.
